I'm wedding planning away today. {If you're one of my bridesmaids, please skip this post! That means you, Cat! I think you're the only one who might be reading.} If not, click continue to read more.
On Weddingbee this morning, Mrs. Toucan posted about her bridesmaids gifts. Luxurious, pashmina shawls. I have always thought these were a great idea for bridesmaids during fall and winter weddings when the temperatures aren't ideal. As an added bonus, they are great for traveling so they will be used again.
However, with EIGHT bridesmaids, I thought these fab shawls were way out of my budget. {I've seen them for more than $150.} Mrs. Toucan purchased hers from the budget-friendly Nimli. They carry the shawls in a huge variety of colors and weights. The heavier cashmere pashmina is only $29 and the lighter weight feather pashmina is $20. Plus, in the comments Mrs. Toucan shared a coupon code {SUMMER08} for an additional 20% off. What a great buy! I could still afford to give them other things, which have yet to be decided.
I'm leaning toward the cashmere since it would be warmer, but I haven't decided yet. Now this is where you come in: what color? Keep in mind my shoes are the green ones I've posted about ad nasuem and the bridesmaids dresses are black {pictured below}. I don't think I would have them wear or carry them during the ceremony. {Is that weird to ask?} Just before and after between buildings and maybe for an outdoor picture.
My original inspiration board is here. That has been adjusted quite a bit, but you can tell the feel I want. The colors I am considering are below: sparkle, sunflower, lime and kiwi. Click the photo to enlarge.
What do you think? I'm leaning towards one of the greens. I just love the added pop of color the green provides. Would you wear that color again? Or should I go with a more neutral color like black, ivory or sparkle that adds less punch to photos?

I feel like the Sparkle would be a better option for future wearing too - but to match your colors, I like the lime.

i'm shawl obsessed. whenever i do get married my BMs will get them for sure. as far as the colors, i'm always into the greens but that first one may be more versatile. or you can get everyone different colors that compliment (since they may or may not wear them as wedding attire if you don't require it)
as far as cost... you can get them at most airports in the $10 stores. if you have a steinmart they usually have them for about them same price, and a really good selection. i also saw them at Pier1 a few months back for $20 (bought 2... they're nice and big ones!)

I love the greens - I'd go with whichever looks best with your shoes etc. And they're very lucky ladies to get such gorgeous dresses too :)

I'd be tempted to get a few of each shade! It looks gorgeous together! But alas probably the shade closest to your shoes :)

Gorgeous dress! When considering what color to choose, I couldn't agree more that you need to be careful of how the color will appear in photos. A friend of mine had her bridesmaids were bright aqua dresses and boy, when the pictures came out, they all looked too blue. And for a shawl, it's probably better to choose a neutral color such as ivory or even a sheer fabric in silver so that it "acts" as an accessory without overpowering the real "star": the dress.

you know i ordered smaller nice pearl earrings for my bridesmaids. if you find the right jeweler, they aren't too expensive.
