I am currently en route to Indiana, sitting at the airport in Atlanta* waiting for my flight. I am so excited to be going home for a visit and a wedding {the guy who introduced Nick and I}, but being back means it is time to make decisions. Time to finalize the theme/inspiration/look/etc. Wooh boy...so much pressure. My mom and I are hoping to get a lot accomplished in a few short days: meet with possible vendors, check out a rehearsal dinner site, the list goes on and on.
Coincidentally, Erica of thoughtful day, whose recent {and gorgeous, I might add} wedding went off without a hitch, provided some super relevant guidance in a recent post: If I were to give a bride advice...
Some things I took away from her awesome post:
Envision and plan YOUR wedding. Know what you want.
Ahhh. Knowing what I want is torture. That is half of my battle. I am an indecisive person by nature; especially when the options are essentially endless. If I have some guidelines, it will be easy to make decisions. My original inspiration board from Style Me Pretty {original SMP post here and my take here} was a great start, but my dress looks nothing like the inspiration and some other elements need to be worked out.
Pick your colors. Then pick your inspiration.
Our colors are pretty much picked, but need to be fine tuned. Grey/silver/blue-grey, black, olive green. The inspiration so far is still that rustic, elegant wedding from Style Me Pretty.
I've got some decisions to make in the next few days, and I'm sure I will be enlisting your help as usual. I'm thrilled that I'll be able to have my mom's input in person instead of over emails and phone calls. {Oh and I'll fill you in on our friends' wedding, too. Nick is the best man, andshould be fun and beautiful! I know I'll be taking lots of notes to see how they've done things.}
*I'm now in Chicago. Typepad deleted my post before I was completely done in Atlanta and I had to board the plane before I could wrap it up.. Grr. In order to save $$, I have fifteen two layovers before I arrive in Indianapolis.
hello haselbride, not sure if i've commented before but i wanted to now. my mom is at an airport as we speak waiting to board her plane to come here and help me wedding plan for the next two days. i identify so well with what you're saying about the decisions, etc. a few short hours ago i was putting a tremendous amount of pressure on myself that we had to get a certain amount done in the next 48 hours so that we didn't "waste" this time that my mom is able to be here to help me. it will all get done though, won't it. I personally am trusting God just to take care of my wedding and I need to stop trying to be in control and stressing out. :) I hope your planning weekend is great! Enjoy the time! Kelly
