Every since I saw these photographs in Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 2008 issue, I knew I wanted my flower girl to wear something a little different than the traditional tank dress with a sash that most brides chose. That's a great, classic look, but I'm always in the market for new idea. Especially if the look is tailored to the flower girl's personality. These sequined dresses {from Monsoon, unavailable now} would be PERFECT for my flower girl/niece Mady. She is an absolutle girlie girl trapped in boy world. {She has two older brothers and one younger.} She loves playing in the mud with them, but still changes her outfit ten times a day and LOVES dress up.
I've been saving ideas for her flower girl outfit from various places as inspiration. I'm not locked into any one thing yet, but I think I've found some things I really like.
Clockwise: Sequin jackets from J.Crew, bronze sequin cape from Monsoon, marabou cape from Monsoon, sequin shoes from J.Crew. All images © J.Crew or Monsoon; layout © HaselBride.
I'm also a teeny bit obsessed with the idea of a tutu type skirt after seeing this yellow one in an email from J.Crew. Yellow {or pink, the other color available} wasn't exactly what I had in mind plus the price wasn't exactly right. {FYI: They are sold out now.}
The other day, I stumbled upon the pink tutu on the left at Cake and Milk Paperie. $26.50! Can't beat that. Plus, it is available in a multitude of colors include my choice: milkshake {off-white/cream}.

I pretty much sold on the tutu with some kind of sparkly accessory or top. It is incredibly inexpensive, so if I decide against it I can just add to her costume collection.
i have always loved that collection of images from martha stewart. adorable flower girls! i think the tutu and sparkly top are a wonderful idea and the little girl will love it, too. she almost needs a wand for the reception!

I had been debating a tutu too! My cousin's 6 though, so it might be borderline weird for her. You should totally do it! I'm hoping to find some affordable ballet flats for her.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can’t go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
